The Shreddie's frame is made of polycarbonate, an extraordinarily durable thermoplastic that's used in bulletproof glass, riot shields, and astronaut helmets. It's the ideal material for performance eyewear because of its high-impact resistance, inherent UV protection, and light weight. The glasses also include anti-slip nose pads made of hydrophilic material, which actually grips better when wet--exactly when it's needed. The Shreddie's lenses are just as tough. The lenses are made by injecting molten polycarbonate into a mold that's specially shaped to eliminate distortion. The process makes the lenses optically correct, increasing comfort and minimizing eye fatigue.

The Shreddie's lenses are polarized, helping the sunglasses eliminate glare and increase definition. Where there is light, there is always glare, which is caused when light hits a surface, becomes concentrated, and then reflects into your eyes. Polarized lenses eliminate glare from horizontal surfaces like roads, water, ice, and snow, allowing details to show through while drastically reducing eyestrain. The shatterproof lenses also feature a scratch-resistant coating that makes the surface of the lens considerably harder than the base material.
